We afficionados here all know that you _can_ use the Amiga for office work (and sometimes even better than certain other machines <g>). But then, if someone has to decide for his office (a lawyer, e.g.) he will ask for mainstream. Where's Word, where's Excel for the Amiga? Yes, you and I know there are programs for our machine that would do the job. But who else knows, thanks to C='s (R.I.P.) "extraordinary" marketing? It's that hen-and-egg-problem: What has to be first – the machine or the application? We don't live in a state of innocence anymore, though: The applications are there – on other machines. If Escom could talk any of the big software houses to port some major business applications to the Amiga… There is some hope, though, IMHO. That software bundle that comes with the new A1200 seems quite impressive – and it's more on the (home) office side. It might be a way to get rid of that game computer image. As I come to think of it: Maybe Escom/AT should offer a Internet-in-a-box-solution for the Amiga ASAP.
