John,
<<However, is there some kind of AmiTCP "screen", with menus, gadgets, etc., or
does it just open a window for communicating?>>
When I first started this Internet thing I couldn't understand what all of
these little subprograms did. Fortunately A friend of mine at work had a
better understanding of what was going on.
The bottom line is AmiTCP and PPP regulate the transfer of data between
computers.
If you have gotten as far as the complete window in the corner of your
workbench screen you have sucessfully beaten the "big dog". This means your
computer and the host server have agreed to swap information. From this point
it is time to start a program such as Alynx, AMosaic,Gopher,Thor or something
else to do the user interactive stuff.
As far as hanging up, double click on the stopnet icon and answer yes to both
the questions. The interinstall script has already worked out that deal.
Hope this helps Jim
