#IRC Help
To Anyone Who Knows,
I've been trying to install several Internet-based programs onto my system,
without much luck. The problem is that it has been about three years since
I've seriously used my Amiga 2000 for anything other than games. I never
learned AmigaDOS (although I have version 3.1), I can only do the basics with
the shell (changing directories, listing, copying, dearchiving files, etc.),
and if there isn't a working Install script, I'm lost.
Anyway, my latest project is trying to install Grapevine, the IRC client. I
have my AmiTCP 3.0b up and running, and I thought I installed the
socket.library in the proper, but the program won't run. I generally get a
message that says "Can't open socket.library. I don't know why. I've tried
everything I could think of, like reading the docs, looking in my manuals for
Amiga Dos. It all sounded surprisingly like Greek to me.
So, I want to find out. I want to be able to use the computer to the best of
my ability without posting panicked messages to the forum. My major fault in
life is that I need thing explained to me oftimes. So, if anyone has the time,
I'd appreciate some information, via the forum or through e-mail (102161,2461).
Thank you in advance for any help I may get. I truly appreciate it.
Sincerely, Derrick White
