Peter, Have you set your serial settings for 8-N-1? If you are set for the 7-E-1 recommended for CompuServe, your binary downloads will always fail, no matter what protocol you have. You need to set for 8-N-1, and then turn on an option to 'strip high bit.' I don't know anything at all about NComm except that we have a steady stream of complaints that it does not work properly here. I've never used it, or even loaded it into my machine – but if it has the real B protocols, they ought to be compatible. CompuServe invented the B protocols and then distributed them so that program writers can support them. The code is freely available and people just have to plug it into their programs, so unless that programmer made unauthorized changes, the protocols are compatible here. —Betty
