Sean, I have solved your puzzle. The GIF file shows a man with a beard. Let me explain, how it works. But I do not know yet, why it works 😉 I put all messages you sent me in one file in the given order. The first line of this file have to be changed from section 1/2 file pmex2.gif [ VuePrint 4.1 ] =0D begin 644 pmex2.gif to section 1/2 file pmex2.gif [ VuePrint 4.1 ] begin 644 pmex2.gif three lines in the middle of the file have to be changed from M'G#X(8,.8%A$A1J,L"(5;MX(PY0?B%$!AE)ZF22%,V"XHH])2`IIN9!*ZH0( =0D section 1/2 file pmex2.gif [ VuePrint 4.1 ] =0D section 2/2 file pmex2.gif [ VuePrint 4.1 ] =0D to M'G#X(8,.8%A$A1J,L"(5;MX(PY0?B%$!AE)ZF22%,V"XHH])2`IIN9!*ZH0( section 1/2 file pmex2.gif [ VuePrint 4.1 ] section 2/2 file pmex2.gif [VuePrint 4.1 ] two lines at the end have to be changed from 3SZH4M(,,P"H`\%G/#E(#`0$`.\32 ` end =0D section 2/2 file pmex2.gif [ VuePrint 4.1 ] =0D to 3SZH4M(,,P"H`\%G/#E(#`0$`.\32 ` end section 2/2 file pmex2.gif [VuePrint 4.1 ] Now substitute in the whole file all occurrencies of =3D with = and all lines are equal now (except the last one, this one is without leading M). The next line has only a ` in it. Now split this file into two between the lines beginning with section 1/2 and section 2/2 circa in the middle of the file. Save the first part as test.uu1 and the second one as test.uu2 . Execute now the command UUxT x test.uu1 test.uu2 and the file pmex2.gif is generated with 34894 Bytes. Erich
