First of all, for the sake of clarity, you really should have this question in SS2, reserved for the 128. But nevertheles…. I have moved out many 1571's to people who use them as a second drive with their old 1541's. No reports of problems. I personally use 2 1571's in both 64 config & 128 native. I have never had a problem. I am also using them as A: & B: under CP/M with absolutely no glitches. I would recommend returning your unit for immediate replacement from your dealer. The 128 is more of a computer thatn any other I have ever seen (in the eight bit world). Any computer that can: (a) Run 99.9% of all software for the world's best selling computer; (b) Have tremendous expansion (to 640K) with its native operating mode; (c) Switchable 40/80 column color outputs with true sound synthesis; (d) The ability to have co-resident programs in its native operating mode; (e) The ability to run one of the oldest and most supported operating systems (used on Kaypro's, Osbornes, et al) (f) The ability to read other computers disk formats And I could continue on forever….. (You can see it irks me when someone calls what I and many others consider to be the most powerful 8 bit computer in the world a 'not-real' computer!) Don't blame the system for the deficiencies of a piece of defective equipment. It's a GREAT system. Best, Mark Weddell 74726,313 Enter command, N for next message or <CR> for menu : n
