#Hardware Problem
My A1000 just developed a problem I'm hoping someone could tell me the cause
of. It won't read a disk past track 77, sometimes 78. That means if there's
data on tracks 77, 78, or 79, the program won't run, I can't copy that file,
etc. (I can see where the data is by using filemap.) So, I also can't do a
successful diskcopy anymore, either with the DOS diskcopy or with Marauder, and
either from DF0: to DF1: or from DF1: to DF0:. It gets up to track 77, tries
it a few times and ab, saying "Can't read source d (I can format a disk
though, strangely enough.) It's not my drives themselves; the external drive
is fine when attached to another Amiga. When it's a program or file that's
partially on 77, 78, or 79, it tells me volume whatever has a read/ write
error, which is not true – the disk is o.k. on another machine. Something that
might be related: just now I tried booting up with a standard, original copy,
new Kickstart 1.2 disk, and my Amiga refused to boot up. Tried it several
times. It will boot from any of the several COPIES of the original Kickstart
disk, though. Very strange. If anyone has any ideas on what's causing this, I
sure like to know. I know I'll probably have to take it in and spend s money on
it, but out of curiosity I wish I knew what's causing the problem. Thanks for
