Is DesqView one of the alternative DOSes, or is it an add-on environ-
ment like MS Windows? My relative ignorance of the IBM world prompts me
to ask.
Speaking of PC multitasking, I got the chance earlier this week to
check out a pre-release version of OS/2. (One of my friends has a
friend who works for IBM, which has regional headquarters nearby.) Holy
Over-documentation! Not only that, the OS itself is big, bloated, and
clunky. We're talkin' major stinkeroo here…it's even worse than I'd
been led to believe. Of course, the version I saw was a beta, and my
opinion is admittedly biased, but even so OS/2 needs a _lot_ of work.
