Kevin, The chances of harming the heads is about 0%, though if it is removed while writing, you will have to put it back in for it to finish. Chances of it clobbering data in a way that can't be recovered are small, but present. Moral, wait for that light while writing. If a disk is only being read, you can safely pull it out, and the worst that will happen is that it asks for the disk and carries on. Regards, Larry.
