I too was at the Commodore lunch in new york yesterday…wish i knew you were there. Anyway…a few other tidbits I picked up… the A500 will not go mass market in the forseeable future. I talked to henry rubin about the A3000 too…when I suggested that rumors around indicated a 19 mhz 68030 at 1024*1024 resolution, etc, he said that perhaps I was understating things. The 2000HD will retail for about 3 thousand, the 2500 without the bridgeboard around $4700. I asked about compatibility with HIDEF TV, and he said that that would become a necessity, when hidef came out, but that there are no standards currently, so it would be difficult to predict when they would come out with a compatible piece of hardware, but that they were up to their eyeballs regarding hidef tv. Also… notable, commodore has a 27% share of the tv studio/cable/video production market, and that the next 5 computer vendors dont add up to 27%. No decison has been made as to EISA vs MCA, theyll wait till things settle down first, then decide. The MTV commercials I viewed, were short, punchy, and contained a message noting that the entire commercials were done exclusively on Amiga 2000s. Several new chains were added, one computerland franchise based in phoenix, with about 10% of all computerland stores, a chain called PC warehouse based in the east with 23 stores, and a few others, spread around the country. Commodore expects to show many new products at comdex on nov 14-18, including their new "state of the art" 286, the 2000HD, 2500, and possibly a 3000 prototype.
