The folks from NEC were at our office today demoing the drive and their
disks. I'm home now, so I don't have the pricing info handy (and I've
vowed not to set foot in the office until Monday — a real first for me
lately!)
Anyway, I'll check on Monday for you. I do remember that they at least
thought that competitive pricing was one of their chief selling points. For
instance, the PostScript font disc contains a copy of Suitcase II. As with
the individual fonts, (Adobe volumes 1-105, I think), if you want it, you
pay (they said) about 40 percent off the list price to them and they give
you the password to unlock it. If you don't need it, you haven't been
charged for it. An interesting approach.
