OK, I lied. It's Saturday morning and guess where I am? Our art director
called me at 8 with a crisis, so here I am.
Anyway, NEC's Adobe Fonts CD-ROM sells for $9,000 if you want the whole
library. That's quite a bit cheaper than Adobe's Font Folio, which sells
for $13-14,000 if memory serves.
Those of us on more restricted budgets can buy the disk in a locked format.
My materials don't seem to have the starting price, but the purchase price
includes three fonts of your choice. You can then buy additional fonts for
$99 a pop. Adobe's retail is $185.
The way you buy the additional fonts is pretty neat. You call their 800
number, give 'em a credit card number, and then they give you the password
to unlock the font. (It's worth noting that each password is tied to the
serial number of the disc. So I couldn't, let's say, buy the Bodoni
password for my disc, and then give it to you for you to use on yours.)
