Dominique: Premiere can create EDLs from any source material, HI-8 or otherwise. The only restriction is that the original material must contain some sort of timecode that an editing service provider will be able to read with his equipment when using the EDL and your tapes, and that can be read from a Premiere device control plugin. All that's required is a deck that can generate timecode (LTC, VITC, whatever), and a driver (a very wide range of serial 422/232/Visca/etc. decks are supported with controller plugins). Premiere will handle all the in/out points and so forth, and provides a wipecode editor for mapping transitions to pro switchers. Just do the edits, and export to CMX, Sony, Grass Valley. No muss, no fuss. Nick Adobe Systems.
