Thanks for the reply,Doug ! Fortunately volcanic activity in the UK is very much a thing of the past, the last being in the Tertiary (I think). I did travel recently to the island of Lanzarote for a holiday, or so my wife thought !!!!!!!! If you are interested in volcanoes it is certainly worth a visit, especially the Timanfaya National Park. I don't know if you have heard about it before but there is a small geological museum in Creetown, SW Scotland, that has a particularly fine exhibit of fluorescent minerals. Graham Brookes
