#Kobe: Richter/moment?
I keep hearing the Kobe quake described as "magnitude 7.2 on the Richter
scale." I thought everyone uses moment magnitude for the larger quakes. Can
someone shed a some light on this, and maybe help me understand the difference
in the two scales of magnitude? Thanks.
