Hi Jacquie – Since you have a 2000, you have 1 meg of RAM. The place where Jack says to cut back to 2 colors is in the section for users with only 512k of memory. It doesn't apply to you, so don't worry about it. I just installed JRComm on a workbench to refamiliarize myseslf with the procedures. Jack made it very easy by providing a script for all the tedious work. Here's what we need to do. 1. Place the copy of the workbench we called JRComm the other night, and place it in DF0: 2. Place the diskette with the JRComm archive and the files broken out from it in DF1: 3. Reboot the computer. 4. Double click on the JRCOMM icon to bring up the workbench. 5. Double click on the Shell icon. 6. Type COPY C:LHARC RAM: 7. Type COPY DF1:#? RAM: (Note: Jack's script works from RAM: to DF0:, so we are just accommodating him with steps 6 and 7.) 8. When the prompt returns, type EXECUTE RAM:WBSTRIP (to execute Jack's script.) 9. Type Y when the script asks if you are ready to continue. 10. Wait until the script finishes executing. (Mine ended on an error message, but that was AFTER the important things got done.) 11. Type ENDCLI. (JRComm is installed on the boot disk at this time.) 12. Close the workbench window by clicking in the close gadget (the square with the dot in it). 13. Reopen the workbench by double clicking on the JRCOMM icon. 14. Resize the window (remember how we did this to the shell window the other night… click in the gadget in the lower right hand corner, and pull the window until the shaded areas on the window disappear, then release the mouse button.) 15. Double click in the JR-Comm icon. 16. Once the program loads up, we are going to be using the pull down menus, just like the other night. 17. Find the column marked OPTIONS, and select item GENERAL A8 (I can't make a key sign with this editor <grin>) 18. Find the column marked PATH, and click in the box named UPLOADS. [ MORE ]
