Gary,
I don't have that issue of the magazine in front of me, so I'm not sure
about the particular modem you are referring to. If it's the one I'm
thinking of it is actually a 2400 baud modem with MNP5 which allows
compression of the data to give a throughput of 9600 cps.
Another thing that I've noticed recently in ads are several modems that
sell for considerably less than most HST or Dual Standard modems. These
operate using a proprietary standard. This means that they can only
communicate with modems from the same manufacturer.
