BBS Software
Well after a 4 year abscence, I find myself getting ready to go back to
the sysop game. I am painfully farmiliar with BBS-PC!, I was one of the
origonal beta testers, and while there is no update to that software planed
in the near future, I still like the message threads capabilities of it
better than most other BBS's I have seen.
I am very interested in hearing from anyone who has any
comments/suggestions/experiences/opinions on any of the BBS software
packages available for the Amiga. I have seen a feature list of the
upcomming DIALOG software, and it looks good. I have also heard of 4D-BBS
and the C-NET BBS. I also have a demo of the Sterling Service software but
its hard to tell if it is very good from the demo.
To start I am looking at running the BBS on a Amiga 2500/30 with 5 Megs
of RAM and 100 MEGS of HD, with 1 9600 v.32 modem. Latter I would like to
add more HD space plus multi-serial capability and extra modems. Network
mail would be a plus as would UseNet and UUCP ability but I don't know
anything about the logistics of getting a feed, etc…
Any input is greatly appreciated.
