I am a physician, and for the most part, my medical library is reference
material, not books that I sit down with and relaxedly peruse in the
evenings. On CD-ROM, with good indexing, scanning, and viewing software, I
would be willing to pay as much as text. (My 3-volume Anesthesiology
reference text costs about $150!).
At any rate, there are CERTAINLY good uses for text on CD-ROM.
