OK, I'll bite. CIS in most cases doesn't pay for the network connection between your local number and the main system. These connections are provided by probably telenet or tymnet, and the costs are taken from your CompuServe connect charges. So at least that portion of your payments doesn't go to CompuServe at all. Also, the messages you leave take up disk space, which, to a system like this, has a real cost. Additionally, you'll have to prove to me that it doesn't increase operating costs (electricity, maintenance, etc.) for each and every user on the system; i.e. that adding a user at any given time doesn't increase the use of electricity, decrease the lifespan of equipment, etc. You imply these assertions, but you provide no evidence for them. How is that for an argument? Craig
