>>when you render an image that is too large…<< Actually, when you _view_ an image that is too large, you're prompted to resize or chop. When you render a scene using a bitmap as a background, you can choose to Rescale or Tile the background bitmap in the Render dialog box. In a similar vein, if (in the Renderer/Configure dialog box) you set a resolution for your output rendering that's larger than your display device, the rendered image will be chopped to the size of your display device, unless you either render to a Null device, or turn on the No Display button. – Jack
