Mauricio, >> Do you know if it is possible to put an independent switch for the drive so it does not receive power when not in use?. I do not always need the PAR drive to be on when working on other things besides making animations.<< I use two Micropolis drives with my PAR and the Slave drive is in a removable/pullout tray which takes up another bay in the front your computer case. This tray has a switch in the front which allows you to turn off the power to the drive and it also has a small CPU fan which helps cool the drive. While your drive is not in use you could switch it off, also I think you would have to turn the power on and reboot before you could use the drive, and this would save the drive while not in use. This pullout tray would work on the Master Dive as well. They have them in both IDE and SCSI and are under $100.00. Here is some information: DataPort 2200 Removable Storage Module JNL Computer Products, Inc. 659 Glass Lane, Modesto, CA 95356 1-800-283-5123 BTW-This reply came to me via E-Mail, there is no problem with that but it does cost you a little more than if you left the message up on the ASOFT FORUM which is where I found your question the first time.
