There's more to the PJ 'quality' than 'true black'. The PJ requires a
special coated paper, that their ink really sets up well on. Very bold,
vivid.
The new DJ500-C (color) will output on 'plain papers' just like the DJ
does. So the ink and paper aren't made for each other, like the PJ.
But…. I'll tell you from experience that the type of paper you use in
your DJ makes a world of difference in the quality of the output (bleeding,
boldness, etc). Copier/laser paper is ok, but just ok. Personally I like
"Crane's Kid Finish 100% cotton fiber paper – pearl white" (I think 24lb)
for my really good corr and graphics printouts on the DJ. I wouldn't be
surprised if the quality of color printouts was also much better if you use
a good paper like this (but expensive, too = $9.00 for 50 sheets). You get
what you pay for.
