"Because of the calculations involved in locating elements within an object (particularly several elements in an object), Element functions are not available with the Selection button. HOWEVER, once you've selected the element, you can do anything you want with it by using the Modify/Face commands. You'll find this written up under "Select/Element" on page 7-64. – Jack"
