I don't know what you can do when the disk keeps "Validating", other than go to reformat the disk. The main thing to prevent that from happening is to be sure that disk activity has stopped before rebooting. When the "PREP" problem happened to me, I went looking through the installation scripts, and I found there was either an option to "PREP" or another utility that would "un-prep" the drive. (I can't remember which). Anyway, I did the "un-prep" and when went back to the beginning. I was then able to reinstall/reformat everything. Look around the installation scripts you have, and see what you can find. What controller are you using? Steve
