I imagine you have had a belly full of smart replies by now….
Personally I don't see the Amiga as taking on water, let alone sinking. To
look to Computer Shopper for advice is not exactly the logic I'd use for
what will be around tomorrow. First of all, Computer Shopper was sold
awhile back to Ziff Davis publications. (They are a PC Magazine company.
They understand nothing about the Amiga or any other computer. Having only
the PC and Mac to cover will make their life simpler. If you will notice
they do not cover anything else at all, anymore. Which is in keeping with
the parent corporation philosophy.)
Stable….???? Evidently your version of Winows 3.0 didn't trash your
harddrive, and doesn't crash with the regularity of WB 1.1. (Mine did
both!) More software… Yup! Of course there is more C 64 software than
anything else in the world! Perhaps you'd like to go back to one of those
for a broader choice. More hardware…. Well to be sure there are more
vendors selling the same hard drives under differrent names, the same is
true of mother boards, drive controllers, video cards etc. Once you've got
your basic machine set up, it gets a bit more even. How many genlocks,
video digitizers, audio digitizers, etc. are available for MS-Dos, and at
what price? They aren't cheap, and they are very particular about what
formats they support. Last but not least, in the desktop video market,
Amiga has a 73% market share.
When you get ready to donat that A2000, drop me a line, there are a few
charitable organizations around here that can really use it.
