Well, you've not named anything I can't do just as easily – and you left out a LOT I can do easily that you can't do at all. Regarding writing a letter, easily, sure – I open the text editor, put: \documentstyle{letter} Write my letter text, in plain ASCII, with perhaps a {\bf BoldFace} or {\em emphasis} here and there, and then type \end{document} ..and I have my letter. While writing, I have a much faster, much more powerful editing environment than WP offers, and my letter will be perfectly formatted. I don't have to worry about the date, etc, it'll all be there. I worked with WP, nothing else, for almost a year. My opinion isn't from just "playing" with it. TeX is better for everything I do. Manuals, letters, articles, and most ESPECIALLY math, because TeX can make the best looking math in text you ever saw. As for *doing* math in the file – no – I don't do that with TeX, although I wouldn't doubt that it could. Ben
