Jeff,
Yeah, it depends on your field. If you're in engineering or CS, TeX is a
great solution, especially since you have to deal with equations and such.
My field (other than a minor in CS) is Journalism/Communications, though,
so TeX is overkill. Features like WP's Thesaurus are more valuable for this
kind of writing.
