AK> Oh stop it. You keep pretending that the LARGER rises in the deficit before the tax hike are less revelatory than the SMALLER rises after it. Not at all. The largest tax hike in history has produced the largest annual deficit. The new deficit is now projected by the government at $350 million and everyone predicts it will go well over $400 million. The largest in history. What the largest tax hike in history has done is not reduce the deficit, but given congress more money to spend, and when congress gets more money to spend it just goes nuts, and can't stop spending. Liberals always argue that raising taxes is necessary to reduce the deficit. Conservatives always argue that raising taxes always results in more spending and _no_ deficit reduction. The recent tax increase has proved beyond a doubt that the conservatives are right. The largest tax increase in history has not only failed to reduce the deficit, it has increased the deficit to record annual levels, just as conservatives predicted.
