Hmm. You didn't mention anything about DECnet. Our TSSnet product is a
DECnet for the Amiga, and there are DECnets available for the PC and Mac,
too. Everyone is searching for nice, seamless integration of those widely
disparate environments, and there is no solution that please everyone. Our
Amiga DECnet does provide file sharing between any other nodes, but we do
not have a file system device, meaning, you use CLI commands to copy files
from place to place. You don't get a new device "DEC:" that accesses the
network. So it's not quite transparent. It is a lot like what DECnet
users see on a VAX or PC or Mac, and that's what we provided.
There is no NFS server software for an AmigaDOS machine. So, you're stuck
as a client to some other machine acting as a server. Plus you have 'ftp'
file-copying-type access.
I've heard about Progressive's DoubleTalk that operates at AppleTalk
speeds. It can provide a file-system level interface to Macs.
As for SuperBase, unfortunately, no – again, the file system issue crops up
again. Beyond its absence, there's another problem – record locking.
Until Oxxi ships real Novell client software for the Amiga, you're stuck
without it.
