Evan-
While you're at it, may I bounce a few more questions off of you? (Or you
could just tell me to go read your article <g>)
My interest in the plotter before was casual, but now that our Calcomp has
chewed it's belt up, and has 3 of 4 pen positions out of order, we just may
purchace one in the next week or two! (Man, and at a street price of ~$7600,
we just may get two…)
I know that it works fine with Autocad's HPGL/2 driver, but can it emulate
any other HP plotter, or is it just apples and apples when it comes to one
HPGL/2 plotter being able to understand & plot files meant for another
HPGL/2 plotter? I do know that it doesn't support straight HPGL. (We've got
another hokey CADD system that needs to use it)
Does it have built in multiple line weights, like the Versatecs and Calcomps
do?
What about the longevity of the film plots? Are they archival quality? The
dealer I spoke with said that HP claims 20-30 year stability on their film;
is this about right?
You may not be able to answer this one, but perhaps someone else will.
Apparently the plotter supports a raster file format as well (HPRTL). Can
CadOverlay output to this? What about combining raster and vector plots on
the same sheet; can it mix HPRTL & HPGL/2? Does it support any other raster
formats as do the 7600 electrostatics? What about the Rasterex equivelant
of CadOverlay?
