The simplest configuration to run Acad R11 from inside of Windows is to put
HIMEM.SYS as the first line in your CONFIG.SYS file and *not* use any other
memory managers. Edit your AUTOEXEC.BAT file to include all of the
environmental variables you need (SET ACAD=, SET ACADCFG=, DLP vars, etc).
Then make sure you have v2.6 of the PharLap DOS Extender (this is the
version creating when applying NEWDX.EXE). Start Windows in Standard Mode
and create a PIF file for AutoCAD, specifying a minimum of 2Mb free XMS and
a maximum of, say, 4Mb or 6Mb, depending on your preferences.
This should get you going. There are more complex ways of achieving this,
but this is by far the simplest. Let me know if you have any problems.
