Depending on what you are after…
Plan A, do-it-yourself: get a fluorescent lamp fixture and replace the
fluorescent tube with a UV tube and add a filter (covering up to block any
light not going through the filter) – UV tubes and filters may be cheapest from
UV Systems (CIS mail to INTERNET:uvsystems@aol.com). This is the cheapest road
for any given level of capability.
Plan B: hand-held 4-AA-battery 6" 4-watt-tube UV lamps are available for very
roughly $25-30 longwave (safer & cheaper), $40 shortwave (generally better for
minerals), $60 both-in-one. These are weak but handy and cheap –
a good way to get started.
There are more expensive models, lantern-battery field lamps and house-current
lamps (handheld and display). Several dealers of such things are listed in my
COLDLI.ARC in this forum's library.
