#ACAD 11 & MEMORY
I need some infomation on the best way to use memory available on our
workstations. We have 386/20e Compacs and 386 equity Epson workstations.
We are running on a 3.11 Novell Network, using the most recent shells. We
have Thomas Conrad Token Ring adapter cards and 4Mb of memory per machine.
We are running under ACS telecom 10-cad spooling software and want to
upgrade to the Autoedms version. Documentation for Autoedms says to use
Qemm386 or similiar software to manage the EMS of the machine. My users
say that converting the memory from extended to expanded slows down the
workstation. Yet everything I read seems to refer to the usage of EMS.
Does Autocad 11 work better using the expanded or the extended. Should I
be converting the memory and does it really slow down the workstation.
Which way is the best way to go? Autoedms says it needs 768k of memory to
run and that I should also tell cfig386 that the amount fo memory available
to autocad is the remainder of the memory left after this 768k is
subtracted from the available EMS total.
