I can't answer most of your questions except for the one asking 'what
is Unix?' Unix is a multitasking/multiUSER operating system. Originally
developed by AT&T on a DEC machine. It runs on most larger computers. It is
probably the most universal operating system in the computer world.
A serious business machine with fast processor should run Unix. Now as
to how much a workstation for an individual would benifit from Unix is at best
debatable. The problem is that the OS itself is expensive and most of the
software for it is written for many simultaneous users. 73, bill
