About redistribution of Autodesk players here's what I've been told (which
is of course subject to clarification from the powers that be…): That to
redistribute aaplay.dll with a commercial product (excluding not-for-profit
cases) will cost a buck a copy. This can be a significant percentage, such
as 5-10%, of gross revenue for software say if it is sold to distributors
by the developer for $10-20 a copy.
I was given this information from Chris Allis and Gayle Okumura at
Autodesk. They have both been very helpful and the support at Autodesk has
been very good. Of course I wish that this redistribution policy was more
accomidating to us small development shops who are trying to make a living
by selling low-priced software.
I don't know how this applies to the Toolbook Multimedia you describe and I
would prefer that the the information I have is somehow wrong 🙂
Maybe Chris or someone from Autodesk out there might want to take this one
up…
Thanks
Vatche
