It occurs to me that, before I start bad-mouthing Digimation (after all, I've
been a very vocal supporter so far of Bones Pro), I should get my facts
straight, so I thought I'd lay out a proposition for you to see how you'd
react.
I'd like to buy LensFX, with or without a dongle. However, I have two machines
networked together. My slave machine only exists to render 3D Studio stuff —
I'll buy a 200mz Pentium when it's available and eliminate the network hassle
(although Lantastic seems to work very nice for me). If I can only run LensFX
on one machine it ain't worth it to me — kind of negates the whole point of me
trying to soup up my animation speed.
Paying an additional $300 just for a rendering slave machine to run LensFX
obviously isn't reasonable. I can see some sort of network license, say the
original $300 and then a per machine fee that would then be fair to both the
large users as well as the small guys, like me. I'd say that $50 per extra
machine would seem reasonable, but I guess I'd be willing to spend as much as
$100 more. So, what do you think?
