That's right. The external control for Horizontal center on the 1950
will not cure the border problem. As my last message states, I went
through all of this before. I was surprised that I hadn't seen any
discussion here about the screen border problem with the 1950 before I got
mine.
You'll notice that the 1950 has both external Vertical Center AND
Vertical Size knobs, but only has a Horizontal Center knob. The Vertical
Size knob expands and contracts the vertical image, while the V. Center
knob moves the entire vertical image up and down.
I also had a 1" border on the left of the screen. With the Horizontal
Center control, I could shift the entire horizontal image left and right.
When I moved it to the left, I could get rid of the left border, but then
I had a border on the right of the screen. You should also notice that
with the border on the left, the farmost right of the screen is at the
very edge of the monitor. That is, the title bar is not centered and you
have the left border.
At first I centered the title bar, and this gave me a 1/2" border on
both the left and the right of the screen. I reasoned that if there was
only a Horizontal Size control, I could expand the horizontal image left
and right about 1/2" and get rid of both borders AND have a centered
screen. I wondered why there was no external Horizontal Size control to
accomplish this, as there was an external Vertical Size control.
As I mentioned in my previous message, the CBM tech said there was an
INTERNAL Horizontal Size control that might solve my problem. Alas, I
brought it to my Amiga dealer and the internal control did NOT solve the
problem.
Unfortunately, there may not be a solution to the border problem, at
least that I know of. If you discover one, please let me know.
Then again, it hasn't been that much of a problem, since I use my HD
over 95% of the time. As I stated, changing the Prefs screen centering
will get rid of the border. I hope you have a HD. If I didn't have a HD,
