#Dissolves in VP
Gary- I forgot to reply to an earlier thread regarding dissolves with VP.
I use TAPCIS and when I logged on, I lost the old message, so I thought I
would tell you and hopefully the info would help. I have had problems in
the past with the Darkening Dissolve in VP. However, the solution that
seems to work properly is this:
Dissolving from image A to Image B….
1) Make sure that both images are rendered with Alpha ON. That seems to
be what causes the darkening, if one image has no alpha info.
2) In VP, be sure to use Queue for the Alpha Box.
3) Fade-In image B.
I have faded A out while fading B in and it seems to work OK. One thing I
found is that you must have Alpha info in both images. It also has to be
3DS2 alpha info… an alpha channel created by QFX doesn't work (don't know
about HiRez QFX) because it's a grayscale alpha where 3DS2 is a B/W matte.
If the images that your dissolving between were created in another package
( TIPS, RIO, etc.) then load them up as a background in an empty scene in
3DS, and render them out to disk with Fields OFF and Alpha ON. These steps
seemed to cure my dissolve problems. Hope that helps.
