For the heck of it… unplug the scsi cable from the tape drive and plug
the LAST connector on the cable in to the tape drive.
The slider on the tape drive should push to the side… it takes a bit of
a shove… but not so much that you feel like you are forcing it. It
should slide to the left to eject a tape, and to the right to lock one in
(and move the tape drive's head against the tape.).
