Yes, it's possible, but I'm not sure it'd be any faster.
If you look in the area selection panel, there are some logical operators
in there. Among others, there is "OR" with previous region. Select an area
based on one color. Now, select another area based on another color, and
this time use the OR operation. The resulting mask (which you can save if
you like) will cover the tow areas. If the mask is backwards, then use
Exclude Region when you apply it.
