May I jump in here….. Have been following the affairs of the forthcoming (?) Y/C Plus board. As my outfit use S-VHS and Hi8 in one edit suite, we were – and are – interested. However, I do have some tight questions as regards video processing for the Y/C Plus Toaster combination. Although we have not got the Toaster circuit diagrams, we presume it processes COMPOSITE in the 4,2,2 mode. To have it process Y/C as the board stands, the Y/C Plus would have to transcode input signals from Y/C into composite for the toaster. It would do the reverse for the outgoing program video. Otherwise… a double transcoder. Maybe the Y/C Plus folk have found a way of going into the Toaster circuit – via the internal connector – so that the signal goes in, and is Toaster processed in the Y/C mode, after which it exits. If this was easy and possible, I wonder why NewTek did not do it themselves. If indeed the Y/C plus is just a form of transcoder, I am worried. The more circuits the video signal has to pass thru', the more it is degraded. In summary. Am most interested, but first would like to see a professional technical evaluation… with all the numbers, etc. Do wonder what the asking price will be.. Regards to all…. Hilary
