CD ROM install?
Good news! I got my drive working again. I talked to Toshiba tech
support and they told me that if you set the test dip switch to the on
position the drive will function as a player only and that you could
change tracks by pressing the eject button for less then a second. Well I
tried that and it didn't work.
Sooo, in a fit (it must of been) I removed the drive took off the top
cover and lifted up the pc board and managed to swab the laser lens with a
Q-tip and some cleaner. Well that did it, the drive is working again.
This is a rather dangerous method I fear. I think a regular cleaning
program is the best way to keep this problem at bay and, that's something
that I'll be doing from now on. I want to thank everybody that gave
advice.
