David: I am not aware of any legal precedents as yet, although since write-once optical technology has been around for some time, it is probable that a good lawyer could either find one, or render an opinion based on that experience, or an extrapolation of the microform status. It is a question that comes up now and then and certainly will have import in the near future. This has inspired me to check with some of my contacts in the legal field, and see if I can get some free advice – maybe an article for our newsletter. Stay tuned for the results. Rich Bowers
