I am having a weird problem with Mac-2-Dos. Last week, my serial port started getting very flaky—putting out random garbage, not echoing keystrokes to the terminal, etc. I also found that Mac-2-Dos could not find the Mac drive. My dealer ended up replacing the 1488 and 1489 and installing two new 14 pin sockets. (He HAD thought the power drive had been damaged in its -12 volt line.) Now, the modem works fine, as does the scanner. An Amiga disk drive in df1: works perfectly. But Mac-2-Dos STILL cannot find the mac drive. I know there is nothing wrong with M-2-D because I tested it with a different Amiga. It has always worked on the 3000 before. No major changes in my setup have occured. I seems, then, that the problem is in my Amiga. But since the Amiga drive works fine, my dealer suggests that M-2-D might be using some line other than the ones used by Amiga drives. He is trying to figure out what could have been damaged by whatever damaged the serial port that would leave the drive port working just fine for Amiga drives but not for Mac-2-Dos. There is no schematic in the manual. Help! I spoke with Randy by phone. But the folks who would know were at Comdex. Maybe they will be able to answer here when they return? Any others with ideas? Thanks. Jim Ventola
