I am not sure that I understand what is meant by not setting the CD-ROM with the reference diskette. I used the reference diskette to identify the trantor card to the system. This must be done in order for the computer to function. The existing IBM SCSI card was already configured to work with the internal hard disk. Upon booting, either when the memory management software (BLUEMAX) was configuring itself, or (with the memory manager removed) when the NEC driver was loading, the computer would stop with error # 01291300 (A DMA hardware failure was detected). This would not occur every time but it would occur most of the time. I have spoken numerous times with representatives from Trantor and NEC. I have received varying solutions, none of which worked. Finally, the supplier under advice from NEC, had me return the card with the explanation that the card was probably defective. Unfortunately, they now tell me that NEC is not shipping any replacements at this time. A Trantor representive has already offered to sell me the CD295 driver. I find this to be an insult. I have already spent a considerable amount of money for a drive and interface card that are supposed to work with my system. When they don't work, one of the suppliers says I need to spend more money! At this point, after nearly two months, I am frustrated and more than a little disgusted. If I don't get a reasonable solution in the next week, I will return the whole set-up for a refund and look to a non-NEC, non-Trantor unit.
