Gary,
The sounds you're describing, I've heard also, but they weren't coming from the
Speakers they were coming from the monitor. This was especially true with the
large Electrohome monitors hooked up to a Targa. That was ok. I could live with
that. This is a lot stranger! I unplugged my speakers. That wasn't it. I
couldn't pinpoint the source. It was kind of like walking up to something only
to see it vanish, except in this case as I approached the computers it would
vanish. And the delay for its return was several seconds. Anyway I think its
been solved, I had a mircophone (a black one) tucked behind a speaker which I'd
forgotten was hooked up to a Soundblaster and while I was looking around the
network cables, it dawned on me, that's about the time things started getting
strange. I still can't explain the result, but by disconnecting it, I solved
the problem. You might check out Don L.'s answer to. Regarding wavelengths and
network cableing. At one point I disconnected the network cables and that did
solve the problem but of course I had no network. That's when I discovered the
microphone. FWIW I've got alot of stuff on my console, so it was easy to
overlook.
Thanks though, I enjoyed your sound effects. Alot better than the ones I
experienced. 🙂
