Just to clarify, the choice to use IDE mode 3 drive on my Video Machine
computer was mine. FAST does not make recommendations about what hard drive to
use on the VM. IT does require either two SCSI-2 driver or 1 SCSI wide drive
for the Digital Player recorder, their Non linear editing board. I use both
SCSI-2 and IDE drives here on my 4 486-66 MB's. The fastest DOS drive is the
Mode 3 IDE and next is the SCSI-2. My SCSI-2 drive chain is on a DPT cacheing
EISA controller with 4.5 megs of cache. (No, I didn't buy this, too expensive
for my tastes, I won it in one of those drawings at COMDEX :))The slower drives
are all the other normal IDE drives, cheap but effective. I exclude the PAR
because it is really a special case and not easily compared to the dos drives.
