Dom, I've not used the Amiga version of WP, but have used the MS-DOS version, and it is undoubtably the most un-intuitive piece of junk I've ever used. F7 to quit??? where the heck did that come from? And that's just the start. The Windows version is supposedly much better, unfortunately, I'll get to find out…I just picked up WordPerfect for Windows today. I fought the good fight against it…and actually had permission to buy Lotus' AmiPro instead. But the political reality at work is that we set the software standards, and we have to enforce them on others…and since I'm one of the administrators, I couldn't very well tell someone else they had to use WP if I didn't use it. We may have made a mistake several years ago when we picked WP as the standard for us, but at this point in time we're stuck with it. So politically, I'm stuck with it. I just hope the Windows version is more intuitive than the DOS version is. As to piracy…as I said in my last message, the percentage of software being stolen isn't the issue…it's the number being sold that's the issue. MS-DOS has over 100 million machines out there. IF WP is on 20% of those machines…that's 20 million pieces. IF 50% of those are stolen, that's 10 million legitimate sales. On the Amiga, if WP is on 20% or our machines, that's 800,000 pieces, if 50% of those are stolen, that's 400,000 legitimate sales. Which market would you rather be in? And the fact of the matter is that WP isn't on 20% of the Amiga, I'd suspect it's only on 1% or so of them. Consider that 80% of the Amigas are in Europe where WP wasn't sold. That only leaves a base market of 800,000 to start with and even selling to only 5% of that base…with NO stolen copies (which we know isn't true) gives them total sales of 40,000. Not a big market for a company like WP. Don
