8-bit Digital Video Software for DOS

New Age Interactive announces DV8, the latest 8-bit digital video software for
comprssion and real-time playback of Autodesk FLIC file formats.
DV8 is specifically designed for 8-bit video and surpasses other video
compressors such as Cinepack and Indeo in compression speed, image quality and
playback speed. For example DINO.FLC (3D Studio rel 3 CD-ROM) which is
originally 3.8 MB can be compressed down to 610K with very little loss in 45
seconds on an Intel 486-33Mhz CPU. The same file took over 9 minutes to
compress with Cinepak at default settings on the same machine and produced a
500K AVI file which played noticably slower with very poor quality.
This is version 4.0 of New Age Interactive digital video software with improved
compression ratio, image quality and playback speed. Release 2.0 is available
in ASOFT forum library 7 for your evaluation. Although, 2.0 is an older
version, it gives you an idea what the "real-thing" can do.
DV8 4.0 player and one or two sample flics will be uploaded to this forum in
near future. The complete package including the compressor, player and a visual
scripting tool is available now from New Age Interactive for an introductory
price of $195.
Minimum hardware requirements: IBM-PC 386 33Mz., 2MB RAM , hard disk, any SVGA
display, DOS 5.0 or higher.
